Jewellery And Disney World - What A Combination!
Do you sometimes find that there’s a whole world out there that’s been under your nose all along that you’ve not seen - something that thousands of people are focused on but it has gone right past you without your noticing? Maybe it’s a sign of advancing age, but it seems to happen to me more and more these days.
For example, right now I’m working on a new heart jewellery site so I’ve been researching various topics relating to jewellery. And as I live in Central Florida I inevitably came across the many sites related to Disney jewellery. Nothing surprising there, because I have seen Disney Princess necklaces, Disney bracelets and so on. What has gone right over my head so far, though, in almost twenty years of visiting Florida and more than ten years of living here, is the concept and enthusiasm surrounding Disney pins.
Apparently collecting Disney pins is one of the fastest growing hobbies anywhere. Pins have been available at Disney theme parks for years but the hobby really grew in 1999 when pin trading stations were introduced at the theme parks. Now websites and clubs have emerged by thousands (search on Google for “disney pin traders club” and you get 117,000 results) and special pin trading events can be found in nearly every major city.
Who would have thought it? There are even special events hosted at Disney World for pin traders such as:
Disney’s Pin Celebration 2009, The Museum of Pin-tiquities, has been announced for June 26-28, 2009, to be held at Epcot’s World ShowPlace. Disney Pin Traders from around the world will celebrate the “10,000-year history” of Disney Pin Trading during this three-day event. The event will feature unique Disney pins created for the Museum’s opening, Disney pin trading activities, a silent and live auction of artifacts direct from the Museum’s vault and much more. Registration will open for this event in February 2009 on DisneyPins.com.

Amazing. Just goes to prove that you’re never too old to learn.
Oh, and that jewellery site I’m working on? It’s only just begun, but try this heart chain page as an example.
